Happy 3rd Birthday, DC Minute!
You know your life is busy when it takes a Facebook memory to remind you of something significant. So sad. As we reunited last night from my trip to Catskill, we stumbled upon our post marking last year’s blogiversary – and sadly, that post was a day behind, too. So now we are two days late and more than a few dollars short, but it’s fun to reminisce anyway.
This past year has been the most exciting one yet, as our entire life shifted two months ago with our move north. We’ve also adjusted to our life as a family of 3, even though we still miss our darling girl every single day. Now that we are on the farm, Ivan and I walk out to visit her all the time. So, in spirit, the family is back together again. We thought for awhile that rescuing another pup when we moved home would be good for us, but honestly this special time with Ivan is perfect, and we wouldn’t change a thing.
In a matter of two weeks, we will have been engaged for 2 whole years, which is something we didn’t expect. Though our plans for a summer 2016 wedding changed, we have a feeling that this next year will bring about a change in our relationship status, though we aren’t sure where or when…
Scott turned 32 and so did I – though I still hate to admit it. I wrote about the 32 things I loved most about him, and recapped an incredible weekend that we had for mine in April.
April was also an incredibly humbling month when we got voted runner up for BEST FOOD BLOG in DC – an accomplishment that we never expected when we started documenting all of our DC date nights.
Other fun posts included the 13 Dining Lessons We Have Learned, the 11 Reasons We aren’t REAL Foodies, and 11 Ways to Survive Winter Storm Jonas. I guess we like the number “11”. We also defended our WNY upbringing with this post in response to an article in The Washington Post. Speaking of Jonas, our Instagram blew up with this picture of Scott, one of my favorites ever taken:
But our favorite posts happened in July, when we told the world about our little secret. It will always be one of my favorite posts, and I’ll cherish the video for years to come. The warmth we received from our friends and readers was the icing on the cake, and that support continues to radiate from you all. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
We now live a MUCH different life, but we are busier than we’ve ever been. We haven’t slowed down at all , and have continued our dates and our adventures – perhaps more so. We are eager to share so much more about this new chapter, and are planning some fantastic guides for WNY as well as what we do when we travel back to DC for work. Honestly, Scott and I have so many giant changes in the works for this upcoming year, and we have a feeling that this next blog year will be the biggest one yet.
Tell us – what can we do on our end to make your experience here better? Anything you are dying to read about that we haven’t covered? Let us know! And as always, thank you for reading, commenting, and all the “likes” on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram – it means the world, truly.
Happy Friday!!
