There are certain people to whom we could never say “no”. When the Dancing Chef himself asked if we’d be interested in a Shirt Factory collaboration with Mariachi de Oro for a night of tacos and cocktails, the answer was an enthusiastic yes

Some of our favorite evenings in Medina have been spent with Leo, Lola, and their entire family. A couple years ago, Alix wrote the post  “Building Bridges at Mariachi de Oro,” it highlighted an amazing evening as we took a tour of traditional Oaxacan cuisine, and one of our first nights truly witnessing the positive impact that this family has on our town. If our love of good tacos (or a personal trip to Mexico) hadn’t already convinced us that we have a rare gem with this family and this space, that evening certainly did.

It’s easy to go on and on about this place, but tonight is about tacos and cocktails. From 8PM – Later (midnight-ish), Leo will be making some insanely good tacos and I’ll be trying to salsa dance behind the bar.

Leo’s challenge was two-fold: come up with a special cocktail menu for the evening, and a “Medina Margarita.” Oh – and dance. Well, I can promise Leo is going to dance, and that he and Alix are convinced I will too.

Here’s a look at the cocktails that I’ve created for the evening: (full post recap coming with all of the ingredients)
