Happy one month to our perfect addition, Bowen Thoreau, or “Beau.”

Born December 9th at 11:09 am, 7 lbs even and 20.5 inches long.

It’s taken a bit of time to pen this post, but anyone who has ever experienced newborn life (and not just newborn, but newborn whilst also juggling another small human) knows that time is invaluable and slips away without pausing to chat. Here and gone, as if it had never existed at all.

But it has, as evidenced by this thriving and beautiful baby boy. His arrival was far less traumatic, but equally dramatic. Arriving quickly (in only 7 minutes of active delivery), and worthy of a longer story to accompany this post. I will say that when they put him on the scale, never in a million years did we expect to have a 7.o lb baby, after Roux weighed in at 9.2 lbs at birth. Granted, Roux was 13 days late and Beau was a 39 week induction, but all the same – Scott and I actually got a tiny baby out of this one, and are relishing in his smallest of features.

He is the boy that we never expected, the one that we didn’t know how much we needed. Beau entered the family chat and it feels like he has always been with us, that we were never complete without him. He has his own look – doesn’t look like any of us, and I’ve scoured his face for traces of Roux, but to no avail. He adds something so unique, so different, and so perfectly complementary to our family, and I can’t wait to watch him *and that delicious dimple* grow.

Next posts? We need to explain to you what 5% means (and why it will be our next tattoo…), his birth story, and of course, the meaning behind his name. For now, we are celebrating all day with our one month old baby and savoring every second as a family of 4.

Happy weekend, friends.
