Can you believe during ancient times kings would trade gold for Cavaillon melons, giving it the nickname “fruit of kings”? Now I might not be making any plans to trade a piece of gold for the Grey Goose Le Melon anytime soon, but I will heading to the store to purchase a bottle of my own.

Melon Carving at the Launch

As part of Grey Goose’s recent release, an event at the Graham Hotel in Georgetown was organized. Originally planned as a rooftop event, the rainy weather seemed to favor a more intimate event in a private lower level bar. Vodka is not normally my drink of choice, to be honest it’s probably even been since college that I bought a bottle. That said, the new Le Melon will be making an appearance at our place very soon.

In our household, we usually keep our cocktail making simple, as in “gin and tonic” simple. Though I can pour a mean glass of wine, pairing different liquors with other ingredients is something of which I lack talent.  We’ve finally been able to incorporate some rum drinks into our mix, but thanks to this vodka we’ve already found some recipes we need to try. If you’re anything like me, focus on the recipes and perfect them before getting too creative.

Looking forward to another drink with Le Melon again – it is the fruit of kings, after all.

Cheers!
