Storm Jayden Brings All the Boys to the Yard…
We are absolutely CELEBRATING. Winter Storm Jayden is here and we are conquering it on Fox Cross!
Not only am I off school for the next two days (teachers, can I get a WOOT WOOT?! We all know we are more excited for snow days than the kids…) We woke up this morning and it was 50 degrees! Sit with that for a minute. After last week’s inside temperature of 38, we’re feeling pretty good right now. Mind you, we were up multiple times in the night stoking stoves, and we are practically out of dry wood, but we hovered in the low 50s and were nice and comfy in our makeshift living room beds.
Scott and I have closed off several rooms in this drafty old farmhouse, and one happens to be the coldest appendage to the north – our bedroom. After one plant fatality last week that nearly destroyed me (a student gifted me the plant in 2009 and I have cared for it for a decade) I have rescued all living things from the ancillary rooms and we – plants, animals, and humans alike- are enjoying a toasty morning in front of the fire.
EXCEPT…
My snow boy can’t let a single storm go by without taking to the outside tundra in less than appropriate clothing. I won the shorts/pants debate, but he kept his tradition of Bills gear alive, this time sipping coffee on the round bales in the barnyard…
Alright all, tell us – how are you celebrating Storm Jayden?
AND A VERY IMPORTANT PSA – Make sure your animals, and those of your neighbors, are out of this weather. Cado is curled up in front of the fire right now, where I wish all the dogs in need could be. If you must go out, make sure their paws are protected and the time is very limited. Keep those fur kids safe and warm!
