I started this post exactly two weeks ago, with a mere title.

The last few weeks have been – a complete blur. Scott and I have been overwhelmed with new projects, and honestly we are just barely coming up for air. Between all of our work commitments, various service and board meetings, we haven’t had a moment. On a positive note, my sister and her family arrived at the beginning of the month for a week stay. The best days are when we are all back together at home on the farm, but it leaves little time for blogging and such.

So instead of a straight recap – here is what Scott and I are loving so far this month:

Roberts Farm Market – I have been a few times already, and each time Roux gets the best kept secret in Medina: the apple cider slushie. $1.50 of pure apple heaven. And even if you’re not plant shopping, just go get the slushie. But I am walking away each time trays of vegetable plants for my garden and new herbs to try. Simply the best.

Playhouse Renovation – I may not have always loved him, but my brother-in-law is now one of my favorite people (for so many reasons). While he was home last week, he selflessly volunteered HOURS AND HOURS of his time, with the help of my little sister, to completely renovate the roof and dilapidated structure of our family playhouse. My grandfather built that house in the 1950s for my mom and her sisters, and when I was a little girl my parents had the house moved from town out to our property. With found materials on the property and a few tools and items donated to the cause by my brother, Evan brought back to life a piece of our childhood. Now I just have to restore and paint the interior and exterior, and Roux and my niece will be able to play for years to come. Thank you, thank you, thank you Evan and Adrienne!!

Champs Mini-Mart subs and sandwiches – if you haven’t had a Champs sub, you haven’t lived. And it’s so close to our house which makes it epically dangerous. A few nights already this month we have been so busy we haven’t gotten home in time to cook (and I am terrible with meal planning…) and a quick wrap has done the trick. Pro tip: the veggie/cheese wrap is INCREDIBLE. My new go-to.

Scott’s on the Move: This month, he is participating in “Walk a Month in a Nurse’s Shoes”, a fundraiser supporting Orleans Community Health Foundation. Scott has worked the last three years there as the Director of Marketing, Communications, and Outreach, but he has such a dedication and passion for his work that I believe it has stopped being that – he lives and breathes the mission of the hospital and the care it provides our community. If you feel so inclined to donate to his cause, you can do so here. I can also attest to his daily 5:30 am treadmill runs….you inspire me, Scott!

YMCA Strong Communities Campaign: Well, since I put a little plug out for Scott’s passion project, I’ll let you know about mine. For the past several years, I’ve served as a board member for the Orleans YMCA, and our deadline is fast approaching for our annual Strong Communities Campaign, where we raise funds for the GLOW YMCA to help provide services and opportunities to our community. If you would like to help us reach our goal (and even a few dollars makes a difference!!) you can swing by the Y (306 Pearl Street in Medina) or call 798-2040.

Herb garden haul: My perennial herb garden, one of my favorite parts of Fox Cross, is alive and thriving already this season. I am obsessed with all things herbs, but right now I’m trying to find ways to use my chives before I steal their blossoms for fried chive blossoms with garlic aioli. So I’ve been making the most insane homemade chive mayo with my favorite homemade mayo recipe from Erin French. Add in the chives and it’s perhaps my favorite condiment of all time. And I’m a condiment queen, and don’t take the matter lightly.

Roux on the farm: This kid makes us slow down (as much as humanly possible) and after having been cooped up all winter, it’s just enchanting to see him back out in his blue boots and riding his tractor around the property, digging in the dirt, helping me plant the garden and blow bubbles upon bubbles. Our pool will be opened soon, and I am looking forward to watching him grow and develop as the little fish he is, and make more summer memories on the farm. He makes the life the sweetest.

So that’s what we have been up to for the last few weeks, and I imagine the next few will go just as quickly. May you be kind, please.
