After being gone for a week, I landed in Buffalo and as phones began to turn on I heard some not so unexpected words, “We traded Tyrod to Cleveland for a draft pick.” There it was, the Bills had moved on from their quarterback and all I could think about was whether or not to tell Alix.

3 years ago, Alix joined two fantasy football leagues, started to wear Tyrod and Bills apparel, and even took school work to the bar when we couldn’t get the game on TV at home. Now, with news of his departure, I’m sitting in anticipation to see what behaviors will be discontinued this upcoming season…

As everyone is creating lists of how they think the Bills might be during the upcoming season, I’m creating a list of exactly how this season will unfold for us. Here are some thoughts:

  1. The end is here. Like many, Alix thinks players contracts are crazy and dislikes how frequently players are moving from team to team, while her interest may have declined already, this might be the end.
  2. She’s going to be wearing Cleveland Browns apparel by the start of the season.
  3. The Bills draft a player who has some incredible story and turns out to be the kind of person everyone can stand behind. If this happens, she might find another favorite player. PLEASE forward these stories.
  4. The Bills draft a player who also attended a high school that Alix previously taught at (remember, Tyrod was a senior in high school during her first year of teaching at Hampton High School, VA).
  5. Nothing changes. I’m able to create 16 weeks of entertainment, and she realizes football is just another part of fall. She also realizes that her competitive nature continues and she just can’t give up on the possibility of winning her fantasy football league.

Send positive thoughts, and hope football in our house isn’t a thing of the past. Good luck to Tyrod Taylor in Cleveland, we’ll be rooting for you.
