11 Reasons We’re NOT Real Foodies
We love good food! It can come from a new restaurant or a dive bar, but good food is good food. Trendy foods might not always be appetizing to us, but the thought of Buffalo Wings and pizza always makes us smile. After 2 plus years of authoring this blog, we’ve realized we might not be the best reference for what is defined as “good food”.
Here’s a look at the 11 Reasons We’re NOT Real Foodies:
- Though some people go nuts for marrow, uni, and other trendy and elite food items, we’d rather save all of it for you and we’ll have a cheeseburger and fried chicken.
- You’ll almost always find the blue box in our cupboard. That’s right, Kraft Macaroni & Cheese.
- The stinkier the better? We love cheese, but when it smells like it’s old we’ll pass for one we’re familiar with.
- We’re from the Buffalo area, so when it comes to chicken fingers and cheap blue cheese we couldn’t be happier.
- We’ve always got tortilla chips. You may be giving us a pass thinking we need them for the guacamole – the truth is – chips, Sriracha, and sour cream is Alix’s after-work snack.
- No matter how classy the restaurant is, we always give points when fries are on the menu.
- We love a nice presentation, but as the Western New York garbage plate proves a dish doesn’t always need to be pretty to be delicious.
- 9 times out of 10 we’re going to clean our plate, rather than taking only small bites during multiple course meals.
- Just because we love going to our favorite sushi restaurants doesn’t mean we’re above buying it from Wegmans.
- Yes, we know several chefs and names of others in the area. However, when it comes to having discussions about who people trained under in different areas we have to Google their names to be part of the conversation.
- Finally, salt and pepper are always on our table. Not sure about the taste? Just add a pinch of salt.
We love and appreciate food and the lengths someone will go to deliver an awesome plate. But just because our date nights have taken us all over the DC restaurant grid, we’ll make sure to keep you up to date on GOOD FOOD – wherever it is :)
Tell us – do you have a guilty food pleasure?
