The Grille at Morrison House has Launched Their Patio
I love sitting at the bar, but when the sun is still shining at 7pm I can’t think of anywhere I’d rather be than stretched out on a patio with my favorite beverage in hand. That’s why I’m happy to say a new patio has opened in Old Town Alexandria, and it’s quickly become one of our favorites.
Not only did The Grille at Morrison House announce the launch of outdoor patio seating, but they did it with a special list of rosés to celebrate the first 100 days. Located along Alfred Street, the venue benefits from far less traffic and noise than neighboring King Street. If you were looking for a place to sip on wine and enjoy the company of others it’ll be hard to beat this new spot.
The noise level and tree coverage aren’t the only reasons you should go, the 100 Days of Rosé flights are making for a far more enticing visit than just another patio. For $25 you get the option of 4-3oz still or sparkling glasses of wine. The menu includes the 2014 La Spinetta Sangiovese Rosé from Tuscany, a 2014 Paul Hobbs “Crossbarn” from the Sonoma Coast, and a Domaine Pelle Rosé from Loire, France. Sparkling selections include a Gruet Brut from Arizona, the Las Perdises Extra Brut from Argentina, and the Juve’ y Campus Cava from Spain. We decided to try the entire menu and divided our flights accordingly.
You’re going to want some food with your wine, if you’re searching for a light pairing order the Baby Arugula Salad (Smoked Strawberries). On a warm evening, it’s the perfect partner to your rosé. I’m almost hesitant to let you all in on the other secret, but something this good can’t be kept forever. The Espresso Pork Belly Tartine is one of the best small plates in Old Town. This is one of the rare items that could be a sole driver in getting you to stop by.
If the current outdoor seating options in Old Town are missing the mark, The Grille might just be the place for you. A patio and mouthwatering rosés should be all you need to hear to make plans on your next Thursday or Friday night (open from 4-9pm).
This is one of the area’s hidden gems, so stop by soon and bring your closest friends.
