Our New Year’s Resolutions – TWO weeks late.
I can’t believe we are two weeks into 2014 – time is already flying and we haven’t had a chance to post our joint 2014 resolutions.
2013 was hands down the most defining for the two of us, as our rekindled friendship/turned romance was the major 2013 life event. However, looking forward to 2014 is exciting as we already know this relationship is only full-steam ahead.
We are both fond of a New Year’s Resolution list, and though we are going to create our own personal lists, we have several things we would like to work on throughout the year.
1. A real life plan
This is the #1 resolution we have this year. Let’s not ignore the fact that Scott turned 30 at the beginning of December and I will be over the hill as of April 2nd. We are happy in our jobs, but a joint dream is being born of owning our own winery and estate. We have been talking at length on what we see our future to be, and we have decided to marinate on the topic and revisit in a few months. We’re not sure where this will be, but it’s a start. If you have experience in opening your own business, we are all ears…
2. Crossing off 5 places on our Restaurant Bucket List (and writing the reviews!)
We love a good dinner out, but we need to stop revisiting our favorites and really knock off a few on our bucket list. If we ever end up moving, we want to know that we explored DC/NoVa to the fullest. As always, if you have recommendations, please let us know!
3. Getting together with friends
We spend a lot of time out with friends, but we haven’t done a good job at spreading the love – reaching out to the people we love to see but aren’t on our frequent flyers list. I miss hanging out with some of my gal pals, and I know that Scott needs some quality male bonding over a sports game. So, this year will be about enjoying time with other friends as well as hosting evenings in at our place.
4. Travel together
We have been dating over a year now (eeks! first time I got to say that!!) and we have yet to go on a vacation together. Therefore, this year we are INSISTENT about getting away, just the two of us. We have a few places already earmarked, but we’ll see if we can budget them in…
5. Cook More
Christmas found us with a newly acquired KitchenAid Mixer, a bread maker, and an immersion blender. Scott and I love to cook together, but we have a renewed interest in really experimenting this winter with our new toys. We’re hoping when we move in together in February, we’ll have enough space in the kitchen for all of our kitchen stuff…
We have so many more, but we know the more you make, the less you keep. What are your New Year’s Resolutions??
