Friday Minutes: A New Year to Read…
…and read we will. Our blog and writer friends have been kicking butt already in this brand new year. I don’t know if inspiration has been contagious, but everyone is posting brilliant content this week. So grab another cup of coffee/tea/juice/wine (hey, we never judge…) and relax with our first 2017 Friday Minutes:
WNY
Our hometown was featured again this week by another one of our favorite blogs, Vintage Lillies. Not only does Medina look good, but I’m dying for Francesca’s scarf….
Ashley kicks off 2017 on Morning Glory with an incredible round up of her favorite photos from the past year. Let’s face it, she always makes Buffalo look good.
Michael is back on Nittany Epicurean with another post on our favorite vineyard in Virginia – he posts about the 2014 Barboursville Vermentino Reserve. Though I have to say, the green grass in the photos has me REALLY wanting spring (don’t tell Scott I said that, and let’s hope he glances over this little bit…)
We’ve already gotten hooked on Lindsay’s new Nickel City Gritty interview series, and just today she published her chat with Frank & Tyler of Two Guys Good Buys.
Scott and I are huge believers in picking yearly “words” – our word this year is ACTION. But Jessica from Tracing Paper reflects on her year and chooses another fabulous word – check it out. Is it fair to steal hers, too?
I’m obsessed with Lucy’s latest post on Write. Style. Travel – she spent time in Lake Placid in December and has rounded up all of the food from her trip – thanks girl, now we’re starving (and dying to get back to the Adirondacks!).
After publishing our bedroom reveal, I am now inspired to make over another room thanks to Life by the Gills – check out this living room transformation! And can we all just agree never to take down the holiday decor?
Ok, so I missed the memo on Sarah’s 28th birthday (Happy birthday, doll!!) but her 27th year reflection on her blog, Pastiche, gives me all the feels. I was nodding my head along with every word, and I have to say – I wish I was as confident and as self-aware at 28 as she is. Maybe by the time I hit 33 in a few months??
Step Out Buffalo published 142 of the best photos of Buffalo on Instagram. Though we didn’t make the cut, we are now bound and determined to get some amazing shots of the city in the New Year. Did you make the list?
DC
Scott and I are planning several trips in 2017, so we were elated to see Troy’s feature of 5 Money Saving Travel Tips on his blog, The Gay Traveler.
Barnette has a way of making everyone into a fool for fashion. On his blog, DC Fashion Fool, he reflects on the past, but has an inspiring outlook on the future. Oh, and his pics are HOT. So hot.
We may have already missed National Bloody Mary Day (damn!!!) and National Spaghetti Day, but thanks to The Hungry Lobbyist, you have a full calendar and tips on how to spend the rest of the ‘food’ days this month!
So pleased to see our girl Kacy experiencing a lovely dinner in Vienna for her husband’s birthday (happy belated, Tom!). Check out her review of Clarity on her blog, Bad Sentences.
Jessica from The Dining Traveler, checks out the recent addition to DC’s dining scene: Tredici Enoteca DC. Love living vicariously through our DC foodies!
We are clearly overwhelmed with 5 people living here, which is why we are itching for every bit of space we can get. Prerana’s article this week on her blog, Broadcloth, outlines 5 Things You Need to Purge from Your Closet – it’s exactly what we needed!
Lauren is on a roll this week! She has fashion, a mouth-watering recipe, and a productivity tip that will change you. Love this week on her blog, DC Girl in Pearls!

Now time to get to weekend activities, which include a dinner with family tonight at the BRAND NEW Fitzgibbons in Medina, a dinner with friends tomorrow at Elm Street Bakery in Buffalo, and brunch for the first time in WNY on Sunday. So much food, guys. So much food.
Happy Weekending!!
