Mason Social Comes to Alexandria
What do you get when 4 friends decide to start a business in Alexandria? Mason Social. This is exactly what happened when these 4 friends (and lifelong Alexandria residents) decided to open their neighborhood gathering place concept in the home they love. With only a couple weeks under their belt, Mason Social has quickly become one of the most talked about additions to Alexandria. One of the things we’ve always loved about Old Town Alexandria is the neighborhood feel. Mason Social has taken this approach to the revitalizing Parker-Gray area that has also recently celebrated the openings of Sugar Shack Donuts and Lost Dog Cafe. If you enter through N. Henry Street you’ll come right into the bar area, which clearly shows the gathering place feel the 4 friends were hoping to obtain. The dining area is more toward the back and still allows for the opportunity to be removed from the common disruptions that accompany a bar scene. A lot of time was put into the selection of the specialty cocktail menu – and it shows. The Taylor Made and Social Gathering were favorites of ours, but I imagine people are going to find something they like from each one. It’s clear that the drink program is looking to be one of the more memorable in the Alexandria area. The menu won’t overwhelm you with options, but is large enough that you’ll find something to your liking. It’s recommended that you order a couple sides to share and the brussel sprouts and mac and cheese are where you should start. As for entrees the table tried the Marrow and Whole Grain Burgers, as well as the Local Scallop Gemelli. We were all pretty happy with our selections and easily have new items we’ll look to try on our next visit. Mason Social represents another reason we love Old Town Alexandria. What better story than 4 friends from the past 20 years coming together to create a great new product that’s easily one of the talks of the town. If there’s any question whether the owners are having fun just look above the bathroom doors, they clearly decided to have a little.
Have you been to this new Old Town spot? Let us know what you think!
Cheers!
