3 Months In – Living Together and Loving it??
Abso-tutin-lutely.
Every couple goes through an adjustment period after moving in together; and we are happy to report that ours was mostly positive and relatively minor. However, what has been most interesting (and terribly comedic) is how we have managed to define household roles along with developing new idiosyncrasies that we are embarrassed to share. But welcome to Scott and Al Tell All.
The following are a few things that have transpired as a result of cohabitation – 3 months in:
Role Play (get your head out of the gutter)
- “Where’s my coffee, bitch?” From that moment on, Scott makes the morning coffee. (Said with love, of course.)
- Al does laundry – She likes it! She really likes it!
- Divided dog chores – Scott assumes the AM Wiz Kids, Al takes on afternoon Doggie-Bag duty. Both enjoy a walk as a family in the evening.
- Washing dishes – it’s easy when you only consume two things :)
- Scott makes guac, Al makes everything else. Does it still count that guac and eating out account for most nights of the week?
Decor Fail
- Corks – How else does a wine enthusiast decorate? Al came home one day to find Scott had filled every empty vase with cork
- Blank Wall – They say the first picture is the hardest. 3 months later and we still haven’t started our gallery wall.
- STK Flasks – Bloggers represent!!! #blogswag
- Futon – We haven’t gotten a new couch yet, but we change the sheet regularly to give that new-room feel.
- Blank frames – The stock photos are starting to feel like family.
- Duplicate photos – So, what is the appropriate distance between the same photo??
- The only real frames include vintage maps of home and a Gone With the Wind shrine.
- Guest Bedroom – we DID make the bed. But that’s it. #everyoneneedsastorageroom
Indiosyncracies
- Now that Scott makes Al’s favorite guacamole, she refuses to make it. She thinks that’s a compliment, he thinks she’s lazy.
- Wine Fridge – Scott’s pride and joy got booted to the guest room – and occasionally Al find him in with it.
- Coffee Mugs in bathroom – Since Al is always on the run in the morning, we tend to find clusters of coffee mugs scattered around the apartment.
- Cuddle time is mandatory. And sometimes it’s even with each other.
- Gatorade – Al likes to leave half empty Gatorade in the fridge, but Scott sees them as half full.
- Al has acquired most of our furniture on her afternoon walks with the dogs. #hoarderinthemaking #expertthrifter
- It’s the age old battle of the thermostat – Al turns up the AC, Scott turns it down. Repeat.
So as you can see, it might not be the perfect life – but it works perfectly for us.
Tell us, if you’ve been in our situation, what was the most interesting aspect of moving in together??
Happy Friday!
