A Relaxing Weekend Recap
April will go down in our history as one of the busiest months we have had. From my birthday on the 2nd, all the way through two weeks of being ridiculously sick and a trip home for Easter, Scott and I were long overdue for a relaxing weekend. Even so, we had a few things on the agenda we definitely didn’t want to miss.
Friday night was low key – it was a 3 day week for me after recovering from not only bronchitis and a sinus infection along with the flu, but I had an allergic reaction to the antibiotic and spent a few additional days off from school. Still exhausted, we reserved Friday for guacamole and rented the film Philomena – perfect cuddle night. Unfortunately, Ivan got the memo and stole my man right out from under me:
Saturday morning began early with a Starbucks and Miah’s acupunture appointment at 8 AM. We are happy to report that she was a trooper and has had two successful walking days. Still trying to kick the butt off of her disease. She’s amazing.
After a few hours resting, Scott and I headed to the 1st Annual Capitol City Spring Fest in Shirlington. The afternoon was absolutely beautiful, and the festival was well attended and a raving success! Scott sampled many of the local craft beers, while I indulged in a little bit of home – Ithaca. All in all it was a great day for the event, and we are already looking forward to the 2nd annual festival.
Saturday night was another evening-in to recuperate from the day’s exertion, and we had an old school throwback with a rousing game of Super Mario Bros. 3 on Nintendo before falling asleep to Neverending Story. We love the 80s.
Sunday morning we had reserved for brunch at Union Street Public House – the best brunch decision we’ve made in awhile. Though a formal review is in the works, we really enjoyed their take on Classic Eggs Benedict and their original Bloody Mary. It was filling, but we sat at the bar and ate our brunch and flirted. With each other. :)
The rest of the day was spent running errands, walking the pups, and enjoying an evening of basketball and sun on our rooftop patio. We made chicken fajita salad for dinner (with AVOCADO, of course!!!) and sat glued to the newest episode of The Mentalist. It was a perfect and relaxing evening – the best way to end the weekend.
Hope your weekend was equally enjoyable, and your week is off to a wonderful start.
