Top Thanksgiving Foods
Growing up, between 25-40 of us would sit around a long dining room table at my grandparent’s house each Thanksgiving. From the pies to throwing rolls across the table, I, along with all of you have several fond memories of Thanksgiving. It continues to be the one day when it’s completely expected to eat more than you can imagine and when you’re done? There’s pie.
Al and I’ll be having twice the fun or two times the stomachache this year, as we will have dinner with my family and then head to her family get together. As we were talking about our favorite dishes, we realized that our list varied greatly. So we decided to ask several friends, and after a non-scientific and unofficial list of the best dishes on Thanksgiving, here are the results:
(We didn’t include gravy on the list, though most people agreed it helps pull the entire plate together, but shouldn’t be considered a food)
Honorable Mention List:
Squash, Swede, and Corn Casserole
7. Rolls
6. Green Bean Casserole
5. Cranberry Sauce- I’m a little disappointed to see one of my favorite dishes only land at #5.
4. PIE- Can you believe there are 3 things that we have higher than pie? (Scott’s favorite and #1 choice)
3. Turkey- All we can figure is turkey is the obvious choice, which made fewer people select it. Turkey was very close to finishing 2nd, with potatoes getting a lot of support jumping to 2nd.
2. POTATOES- We were very broad with potatoes allowing people to group sweet, mashed, and baked all into this selection. Though most people selected potatoes as one of their 2 favorite items, no one had them listed further than 3rd on their list.
1. Stuffing- Several comments surrounded this selection, many of which involved the claims of having the best stuffing recipe around. Stuffing clearly not just Stove Top out of a box. (Al’s favorite and #1 choice)
There you go, our unofficial and completely non-scientific poll on the top foods to have on Thanksgiving. Now get excited, it’s almost here!
