There are more than an abundance of events taking place this weekend all around the DC metropolitan area; so for now we’re just focusing in on one of our favorite areas, Old Town Alexandria. Before we get into recommending some costume parties, that will come tomorrow, here are some other activities that you shouldn’t pass up.

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, if you haven’t tried the ghost tours yet it is really time. Make plans this weekend, it’s not time consuming and will be walking distance from several bars and restaurants for after the tour’s conclusion.

Ghost and the Graveyard Tour
Dates: October 25- 27
Time: 6:30pm-9pm
Location: Alexandria Visitors Center
Admission: $15/adults, $7/ages 7-17

Now that’s only going to take up a little bit of time, so here are several other recommendations for this weekend.

For the dog lovers out there, if you take a look at previous posts you’ll see we have some furry friends, check out the Bark or Treat Halloween Canine Cruise aboard the Potomac Riverboat at 10am and 11am on October 26th. Can you really leave your dogs out of all the Halloween fun? The fee is minimal with a $15 cover for adults, $9 for children, while dogs ride for free.

Trick or Treat with the Boo-tiques! Have you been to Old Town’s Boutique District in the past? If you haven’t this is a great opportunity, you might even get some costume ideas from those already in costume, on October 26th from 11am-6pm. This is a free event, so there really is no excuse.

I know Sunday (October 27th) is NFL Football day but after brunch, because honestly we all need brunch (we’ll be at Murphy’s Irish Pub on King Street), head to Del Ray for the 17th Annual Halloween Parade from 2pm-3pm. Wear the costumes from the night before or that are hanging up for trick or treating on Halloween, and join the hundreds and maybe even thousands of others participating in this year’s parade festivities.

There are many costume parties taking place this weekend as well and not just in Old Town, Alexandria. We’ll be posting a couple suggestions tomorrow morning on places you should check out. Either way if you’re out and about and see us let us know what you’re doing this weekend. We’re always up for new ideas or a spontaneous change of plans.
