The Winners of Winter Storm Jonas “Snowzilla”
No matter where you grew up, snow storms aren’t something to be taken lightly. 6 inches of snow might garner a completely different reaction from people, but when blizzard-like conditions are in the forecast everyone needs to take the appropriate precautions. The last 36 hours showed us there were several winners during this winter storm, and we want to showcase several of you.
- Tian Tian and the National Zoo put out the best representation of having fun in the snow. This video shows what having fun in the snow is really all about.
2. The public safety, government, and news updates. Especially messages like this:
SAFETY: Don’t walk in street b/c of snowy sidewalks. Makes it hard for emergency vehicles (this firetruck) respond. pic.twitter.com/nXuSRWeW3T

3. Snow is fun, these people showed it: (click for pic!)

6. The DC Police were in the news a lot! Some officers were playing football in the snow, others were blasting the soundtrack from Frozen, and some even stopped for photos. All of this while trying to keep people safe in some unprecedented weather conditions.
We haven’t received any reports @NationalZoo for escapees but officers located this wild creature #adominableforce pic.twitter.com/ys7unOh3Yv

7. We all heard the pleas from public safety and news outlets to stay off the roads and inside. We wanted to call out a couple restaurants that kept their doors closed during Saturday’s storm.
#Snowzilla is keeping us closed for dinner service as well. 🌨❄️☃

We will be closed today. Please stay safe and warm and stay tuned for our updates for tomorrow. #snowpocalypse2016

8. The weathermen got it right! In case you forgot what they were originally projecting they made sure to remind us all during their Saturday broadcasts. We applaud them, take credit when you can.
