Brunch Date: New Brunch at Casa Luca DC
If you’re looking for a departure from traditional brunch menu – Casa Luca DC is your place. Their new brunch menu was released on February 22, offering several Italian favorites from Chef/Owner Fabio Trabocchi.
Fiola Mare might be getting most of the attention, but Casa Luca DC is no slouch. With the release of their new brunch menu they do everything needed to prove their place among the better brunch spotss in Washington, DC. Instead of eggs benedict or french toast you’ll be ordering Baccalá Fritters (Creamy Cod Fritters & Spicy Citrus Aioli) and Stromboli (Sicilian Turnover Filled with Mortadella, Rosi Prosciutto, and Roman Sheep’s Milk Cacio Cheese). The menu includes several familiar options such as Steak and Eggs, Bacon, and Italian Sausage, but distinguishes itself with seafood and pasta dishes that need a place on your table.
For starters, order the Sicilian Mimosa or the Maria’s “Gazpacho” Bloody Mary along with the Chef Claudia’s Warm Pastry and Bread Basket. The pastries and breads are so good they may turn out being one item you remember to tell everyone about.
For us, our favorites included the Spaghetti Carbonara (Bev’s Smokey Bacon and Sunny Side Up Duck Egg) and the Baccalá Fritters, if you decide not to order either of these you’re missing out.
No meal is really complete without dessert. Casa Luca DC offers a series of options to complete your dining experience and each is incredible. If you like warm doughnuts order the Bomboloni (Sardinian Ricotta Doughnuts with Chocolate), but if you love all things chocolate try the Piemontese Gianduia Cake (Chocolate Mousse, Flourless Chocolate Cake, Hazelnut Chocolate Creama).
Even though the brunch menu might be far from what you’re used to, there are plenty of items to please even the pickiest of eaters. You can order the entire menu a la carte or try the Casa Luca Signature Brunch (one appetizer, one signature Italian specialty, dessert, plus bottomless beverages) for $32.
If we could go back for one more bite it would be for the Spaghetti Carbonara.
