Date Night: Mintwood Place
It’s loud, crowded, and from the moment the waiter came to our table Mintwood Place was one of the best date nights we’ve had in awhile. There is always the fear that a restaurant won’t live up to the widely incredible reviews it’s received. However, Mintwood Place did this with ease.
Our date night was an evening to celebrate – our engagement was not even one day old and we were on an obvious high going to dinner. Though outdoor seating was an option, the chilly late October air forced us to opt for a small table in the rather packed dining room. If you’re seeking an intimate-secluded dinner you might be a little disappointed, but we were going with the intention to celebrate with drinks and good food.
We had just grabbed drinks around the corner, so we opted for cocktails instead of a bottle of wine. We don’t usually select drinks by their name, but when we saw a Woodrow Wilson and Marilyn Monroe we couldn’t say no. Accompanying our cocktails was the flatbread, recommended by the server, and the shishito peppers. Every bite was delicious and we always love it when a server has a hand in suggesting plates.
With a couple very intriguing entree options, we again relied on the server’s recommendations to help with the final decision. He pointed to the bacon cheese burger as one of his favorite items on the menu, which was enough to get my buy in. The way I see it, if you’re willing to recommend a burger over your steak or other more expensive dishes it’s worth the order. Al took another recommendation from the waiter and ordered the Tagliatelle Bolognese. After all the food, we made a rare move and skipped dessert but from what we saw on other tables several dishes looked promising.
Celebrating an engagement or just out with friends, Mintwood Place is easily on our list of our favorite meals of the year.
