We’ve recently realized that even with a growing list of names on our restaurant bucket list, we hadn’t been crossing many off lately. After spending the entire past week in Las Vegas, for work, we decided to open up the question to our twitter followers to see which location we should cross off next. We heard recommendations on several restaurants in DC, but we decided on a more local spot since my plane wasn’t touching down until around 9pm. Since we had been hearing quite a bit about Fuego Cocina y Tequileria lately, and their wonderful guacamole, it seemed like the perfect choice for a Friday date night.

Fuego is located near Cheesecake Factory in Clarendon, along Wilson Blvd., in what used to be Harry’s Tap Room. As we continue to work our way through the Mexican restaurants in the area, trying each sample of guacamole, we can now add this one to the list of places we enjoyed. Fuego is many things, all of which we enjoyed. From the guacamole, to the tequila menu, to the perfectly portioned entrees – Fuego is a place we’ll most definitely return.

Though I normally jump on enchiladas, a guy at the table next to me had ordered the tacos which seemed too perfect to pass up. Al ordered the vegetable enchiladas with yuca fritas (served with a chile garlic mayo) and I ended up with both shrimp and chicken tacos. Along with our guacamole at the start, everything was extremely well received by our growing appetites.

Of the many great locations in Clarendon, I hope Fuego is one that stays around for awhile. If you’re just looking for some good margaritas or maybe a flight of tequila, there are many reasons to stop by this spot on the corner. Al’s list of her favorite guacamole in the area will certainly include the one we had at Fuego.

Cheers!
