It’s about time I told you the real reason I moved to DC.

Guacamole.

Scott would like to think he was the sole reason, next to the beautiful weather and those stunning cherry blossoms, but really I knew that in such a large city the quest for the perfect guacamole would be possible.

Since I just lost points with Scott, I will say that he makes the best homemade guac a girl could want. For real.

Many places around the area boast the best, and since my first trip here a year ago February, I have been scouting the area and doing my best to sample the best DC has to offer. Fortunately, the guac craze has gone national, and everyone is currently smitten with the green stuff. I, of course, loved it first – but I’m happy to join the masses with a slightly more acute sense of what constitutes the perfect guacamole experience.

If you Google “Best Guacamole in DC’ you’ll stumble upon the Reader’s Poll for the “Best of DC” – someone was smart and added that category. For the past few years, the best in DC has named Rosa Mexicano as top guac dog, while Oyamel and El Centro D.F. have followed in 2nd and 3rd place, respectively. I have now had all three – and can tell you without hesitation that I would place them differently. How I’d place them, I’ll do in another post.

But right now – I want to hear from YOU – if you are in the area, where do you ‘guac’? If you are elsewhere, what makes your guacamole experience?

Scott and I try guacamole wherever we go, and in a series of posts hereafter, we will take you on a tour of the city – guac style. Also, I’m going to get the man behind the perfect homemade guac to spill his secret recipe. Stay tuned.

Guac on!!!
