I woke up this morning thinking, ‘Hello, Friday!’ Then Alix’s alarm went off and I quickly came back to reality.

For those who don’t know, Alix is doing a lot more than managing the blog, photography, and some side projects. If that wasn’t enough to take up her time, she has returned to teaching. While it might just be a temporary stint, it’s one more thing. Speaking for her, I can confidently say she’s happy. I’ve already learned about more than a dozen students, and I imagine it’s only the beginning. So that means I’m going to be writing a lot more.

Here we are, it’s only Tuesday, and all I’m thinking is whether or not I have another cup of coffee. While I’ll be the first to tell you Alix is an amazing teacher and she’s happier in the classroom, I’ll also be the first to tell you we often exhaust ourselves with the balancing act of life. We’re both done with work around 5pm, or at least in the traditional sense. Around that time we figure out dinner, recap our days to each other, and sit back for around 15 minutes. Then over the next couple hours we take Ivan for a walk around Medina (don’t get me wrong, we love walking around the village), head to the barn to feed the horses and goats, eat dinner, finish up side work projects and prepare for the following day. We work on getting to bed by 11 so we can relax for a little bit. All of this is assuming we don’t have plans with friends or family, save the gym for the evening, or figure out a blog post to publish the following day. It’s unbelievable to think that we actually thought moving home would be a slow-down. I’ll be the first to admit when I’m wrong, and HOLY MOLY was I wrong!

This week we’re going to spend more time trying to figure out how to balance everything. Cutting back probably isn’t an option, but finding 15 minutes here and there for other things is something we’ll tackle.

Sometimes doing what you love can be exhausting, while also exhilarating. What are some of the things you’re currently struggling to find time for?

Tuesday motivation means I’m going to pour myself another cup of coffee.
