When it comes to visiting wineries we are always attracted to locations that have fun with what they do and excitement over their product.  Owners Theresa and Brad Robertson do this at Two Twisted Posts Winery. They are creating a fun and exciting environment for their guests, even before officially opening their tasting room.

Earlier this summer we decided to take a drive out into Loudon County to experience some of the wineries we have heard so much about.  Thanks to how friendly the other wineries are in the area (which Theresa paid forward) we took a recommendation and headed over to Two Twisted Posts Winery. The winery was one of several on our radar already, thanks in large part to their recent gold medal at the 2014 Virginia Governor’s Cup Competition for their 2012 Chardonnay.

We pulled up to a tent (their current tasting room as their permanent one is under construction) and were immediately drawn into the friendly atmosphere. So many wineries we find strive for a certain high-brow feel with their grounds and tasting room, but end up having sub-par wine.  Two Twisted Posts has a great location and even better wine.

We started taking photos when Theresa, who has the most wonderful British accent, came up and greeted us. She set us up on a wine barrel and started telling us the story of their wine and winery. Nothing pretentious came out of her mouth; rather, she told us all about the future plans for the tasting room and the goal of making their winery a hangout destination with a entertainment on the side. One of Al’s favorite parts was the guitar leaning against the tent, welcome to guests who felt like strumming a few chords.

It may come as no surprise that we liked the 2012 Chardonnay the most, leaving with two bottles for our shelf. Theresa was the high point of the visit though, as her enthusiasm is infectious. If you have a chance to visit Two Twisted Posts Winery make sure to say hi for us!

Cheers!
