We are back from our first vacation together. Slightly burned, slightly tired, but so happy we went.

The trip was not only an opportunity to spend time together after weeks living apart in two different states, but my entire family traveled south to join my brother as he took to one knee and asked an amazing woman if she would marry him – and she said yes. How could she not? We’re some pretty cool peeps.

We played in Downtown Disney, frolicked on the beach, enjoyed a few tasty Tiki drinks next to the ocean, and laughed well into the night as we played euchre and told ridiculous stories. It was perfect.

Scott and I said our goodbyes at the Orlando airport before I hopped a flight back to Buffalo and he jumped one to DC. We have another week or so apart before I pack up the fur kiddos and drive south to rejoin him in our apartment and resume our life – something that is bittersweet, to say the least.

I am blessed to have a job that allows me a month to enjoy my family, recharge my batteries on the farm and forget that makeup and hair need to be done every morning. But I am equally grateful that at the end of this glorious month in the country on my childhood farm, I am able to get back to the life that Scott and I are creating for ourselves and our 4-footed family.

Daily recaps of our vacation are on the way, but right now I’m going to pour myself another cup of coffee and soak up time on the porch with Ivan and Miah. Home, sweet home.
