Take a deep breath and keep an open mind, because what I’m about to tell you about moonshine may be far different from what you thought to be true. Belle Isle Moonshine is a must try for anyone interested in spirits, or busting a myth you thought you knew. Belle Isle has created a moonshine that is far from a liquor crafted in your backyard.

Moonshine-2

With plans to be in the Dupont Circle neighborhood already, the last minute invitation to an event at Circa was easily accepted. Since we do have other jobs, last minute invitations are usually things we don’t accept during the week, but the timing of this event was perfect. I’ve always believed if you don’t have a good reason to say no, you should always say yes.  Thankfully saying yes to this event turned out to be the right decision.

Moonshine-1

I was able to try two of the cocktails offered, the Peach-Basil Iced Tea and the Lunar Eclipse. Hearing “peach” was almost a deterrence for me, fearing that I’d be getting into an overly fruity drink. I was pleasantly surprised with the lighter peach and basil flavor the drink offered, which definitely wasn’t too sweet. The best part of the entire event was meeting 3 people who are very passionate about their product, and who also spent time putting a book together that includes a variety of cocktail recipes to make with moonshine.

Moonshine-3

Keep a look out for Belle Isle Moonshine, especially if you’re in the Richmond and DC area.

Cheers!
