How would you finish this sentence? We’re working on answering it right now, ourselves. We’ll get to it later, but Al and I reconnected during the holiday season last year, so this is our first where we’ll really be together. In addition to things we both enjoying doing every year, from holiday movies we always watch, to cookies we always cook; we also have a list of things we want to do this year now that we’ll be in the same place.

…to put up the Christmas tree and other decorations.
…spending a day watching holiday movies.
…playing the Pogues, Fairytale in New York on a bar jukebox.
…spending an evening in a bar that has decorations up, preferably a pub.
…going to the mall to at least take in the rush that the season brings. Then immediately going to do something more relaxing and “fun”.
…seeing the larger Christmas trees that have been put up in the local communities (DC, Alexandria, National Harbor).
…making Christmas cookies.
…seeing people wait in line to see Santa.
…spending an evening in, as the snow is coming down, drinking wine.
…watching the SNL Christmas episode in hopes that they can pull it off.

Now that we’re both in the DC area the sentence is going to change a little, with several firsts.
This season, I can’t wait to…
…visit the DC National Christmas tree.
…see the lights at the National Zoo.
…open the 2006 Octagon from Barboursville on Christmas night. There is more of a story with this one, which we’ll get to later. Are there any wines that you hold for special occasions?

So, that’s where we are now. What are some of your favorite things to do during the holiday season? We’re always looking to add more to our “to do list”.

Happy Holidays!
