By now we’ve introduced you to the dogs, we’ve showed you the town we grew up in, and we’ve shared some reviews of our nights in DC. But every relationship must jump a very big hurdle; the first tailgate. We’ve been tailgating with other people in the past, but this Saturday will be our first one together.

In advance of the Syracuse Orange game on Saturday in Maryland, here is a list of our tailgating favorites.

Italian sausages with peppers and onions
Always a favorite and you have the opportunity to one up your neighbor who thought a package of 8 hotdogs was the path to take.

Chili
We all believe our chili recipe can top the next persons, the pregame festivities allows for the perfect chili cook-off.

Chicken bites with Chiavetta sauce (Upstate NY favorite)
Marinade the small pieces of chicken in Chivetta sauce on the way to the game, then throw them on the grill to start things off. They will cook quick so you won’t have to waste time.

Buffalo chicken wing dip
We’re both originally from the Buffalo area, so how could we not have a dish from the old stomping grounds. This is another easy dish that you can make beforehand and just throw the pan on the grill at the game to warm it up. Remember not to grab the hot pan barehanded though.

Chips and Dip
No judging toward the person who just brings potato chips and french onion dip, since we all want chips and dip, but you can go a little further and bring guacamole that you’ve made at home before the game. Al is obviously a proponent of guacamole at every event.

 Brownies or cookies
Get ready because before you know it you’ll have eaten 5 cookies.

Vegetables
As we were coming up with this list Al shouted out “CELERY”, and of course after all this food you’ll need something to feel good about so make sure someone brings some vegetables. We do care about our health after all.

What are some of your favorite tailgating foods?
