Before I say anything else, don’t be fooled when the address sends you to Dunkin Donuts at the corner of U St and 14th St. Remember, sometimes you just need to look up. Well at least that’s what Al did, and she saw the Lost Society sign hanging from the second story (the entrance is a ramp on the U St side).

A couple friends of ours wanted to go out in DC this past Friday for drinks, specifically a place that boasted a good cocktail. We narrowed it down to the 14th/U St area, and after a quick Internet search and a few photo galleries later, we had our place. We always try to pick places that have either been recommended by others or that have a variety of photos that really make us hope we won’t regret our decision.

Last Friday was also the 25th, which was 10 months from our first date (if you do the math you’ll notice our first date was on Christmas). In the world that is DC, it is fairly easy to get wrapped up in work and a million other things for (I’m sure I’m not alone). So, the 25th has really been our opportunity to either go out for drinks, open a bottle of wine, or just make sure we take a minute to breath. I highly recommend that you make sure to take these moments, even if you need to pick a day every month.

Back to Lost Society. The drinks were good, the service was better, and the setting was the best. After struggling to find parking in the neighborhood, I was sure we were walking into a packed bar. However, to our delight we were able to find 4 stools on the opposite side of the bar. I think a great bar always has a variety of drinks you’re used to, and several that intrigue you enough that you have to almost flip a coin to make your final decision. Which we did a couple times.

The scene was just what we were hoping for with just enough people to fill the bar, but nothing overcrowded. We ordered several items but my top choice was the Cherry Blossom drink.

Check it out and let us know what you think!

Cheers!
